Lauren Hansen has worked in therapeutic settings since 2007. She was the college/guidance counselor at the Oakley School (therapeutic boarding school) from 2008-2014. Her specialties are working with children, adolescents, families, couples, relationship problems, parenting, anxiety, boundaries, grief, premarital couples and marital counseling.
In addition to talk therapy, Lauren has specialized training in EMDR, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy. EMDR is a method of psychotherapy that has been widely researched as an effective method of treatment for trauma, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and disturbing memories. EMDR can also be effective in treating anxiety and depression as well. EMDR is an integrative psychotherapeutic approach that assists an individual to process memories and promote emotional healing. EMDR has been recognized by both the American Psychiatric Association and the United States Department of Defense as an effective form of treatment for trauma. Lauren received a Bachelor’s in Psychology from the University of Colorado and a Masters in Counseling from Denver Seminary in 2008.
