Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor
Julia Winterton, CMHC is a Master’s level licensed professional counselor. Ms. Winterton earned a MA in Counseling from the University of Phoenix in 2012. She received a BA in Social Work with a minor in Criminal Justice from Weber State University in 2004. Julia is an experienced trauma-informed therapist skilled in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. Her approach centers around the belief that we are created for connection and that most of the suffering we experience centers around disconnection.
Throughout our lives, we develop patterns that ultimate cause connection or disconnection. Her role is to assist clients in identifying these patterns while gaining skills, perspective, and acceptance. Unfortunately, when we disconnect from our emotions, experiences, or other individuals, we lose a sense of purpose and well-being which results in more suffering. Julia works actively with clients to address and resolve current obstacles while creating a strong foundation grounded in values to buffer against future difficulties.
