Food Pantry

Pantry Usage Skyrockets!

This Fall—2008—the Christian Center Food Pantry is receiving food from the Utah Food Bank Area Food Drive; from Park City Boy Scouts (again); from The Wellness Center Food Drive (Kimball Junction businesses); from Frontier Bank; My Time Fitness Center in Quarry Village; Park City Academy; Promontory Kids Club; Talisker Employees; RMS Enterprises employees in Heber; Park City REALTORS (our annual Turkey Drive donors—thank you Deb Hartley!); from each of the public schools in Park City; and from many concerned private family donors! We thank you all for keeping our shelves filled.

For the past eight years the Christian Center has provided food five days a week to our community. We have averaged about 30 households every day. That serves about 100 family members daily or 500 each week. During the winter months we accelerate those numbers by supplying free food to hundreds of seasonal workers. In 2007 we served over 24,680 individuals from Summit, Wasatch, and Salt Lake Counties.

In the months of September and October 2008 our numbers grew from 1,400 users to over 2,500 users—mostly due to new customers. The economic downturn has hit many under-employed residents very hard and the results are seen in greater pantry demands.

We regularly receive food from The Market at Park City (formerly Dan's), Albertson's, Smith's, Wild Oats, and the Timpanogos Regional Food Bank. We also receive food from Windy Ridge, the Boy Scouts, some area churches, many schools in the district, and individual families.

We welcome any food donations dropped off between the hours of 10:00 and 3:00, Monday through Friday. All donations are tax-deductable and we will gladly receipt you for your gifts!
