Back to School Basics (B2SB) is a program dedicated to providing essential clothing and school items for deserving students in the Park City Utah School District, including school clothes, shoes, backpacks and other school supplies.

On Friday, August 9th, with the help of community volunteers, area business, churches and generous donations, each student selected to participate will receive an allowance with which to shop for his/her own school clothes. Volunteer chaperones will accompany each student as he/she shops. Additionally, we are also hoping for donations of backpacks and school supplies for each student.

A brief recap of the first three weeks:
*Week 1: We welcomed a bigger than expected crowd and had some memorable games and gave away some incredible prizes!  We welcomed people from Jamaica, Peru, Argentina, Australia and Brazil, just to name a few.  It is like a mini-United Nations gathering of young leaders!

 

*Week 2: Not only did we have another great turn out, but the Karaoke was off the charts.  From people who sang “Moves like Jagger” to “Sweet Caroline”, the Karaoke singing was full octane this week.  Also, a huge shout out goes to Mountain Life’s Student Ministry, and specifically Jonathan and Krysti Nellermoe for their leadership, service and help for organizing that evening!

 

*Week 3: Thanks goes out to the Park City Community Church for hosting this week’s dinner.  Our special guests for the evening were two Oscar-nominated directors.  Tim Reckart, the Director/Writer of HEAD OVER HEELS joined us along with Ariel Nasr, the Producer of THE BUZKASHI BOYS.  Both films were shown and we hosted a Q&A with the director/producer afterwards.
